Family, Flea Market & Fun

My family came out to visit 2 weeks ago...we had such a great time!  It was the first time we've seen each other since the wedding in May.  It was so good to see them all again!

We went to the Rise & Roll Bakery in Shipshewana for breakfast one morning...their donuts and homemade candy are delicious!

We then headed over to the Shipshewana Flea Markets to find some treasures!

My Dad's birthday was in a few weeks so we decided to go mini-golfing.

We also went to Steak and Shake ( more than once ;) and went shopping.  Mom and I got to run to the Goodwill and bring home some goodies!

Someone else liked my hat....

                               What do you think?

The way my husband eats cheese, I was considering it... :D

Saturday we attended a family reunion on my Mom's Amish side.  Of course I don't have pictures of that as they don't allow pictures, but it was so neat to be able to get an inside glimpse of the Amish life.  From the way the men, and women/children eat at separate tables to the way the men go first in line for food (which Dad and David didn't seem to mind :D )  The way they welcomed us right in to all the delicious food they make.  I was able to reconnect with my Amish cousin whom I use to write several years back.   I found out we are only living about 20 minutes apart!

We had such a great week together, although it seemed to go by so fast and we were left with goodbyes.  One of my favorite quotes is "Goodbyes are not forever.  Goodbyes are not the end.  They simply mean 'I'll miss you' until we meet again".  There may be miles between us, but that can never change the love and closeness we share!

Corn, Corn & More Corn!

A few weeks ago Dave & I went to Iowa to visit some of his family. Most of what I saw was...well...corn!  It was the first time I've been in that state.  Not surprising, as I've not been too far away from my hometown all my life.  David on the other hand...well...let's just say he's moved around plenty growing up :D

Our cat, Olivia, likes road trips...although most of the time she sleeps the trip away.  We dropped her and the guinea pigs off at his parents on the way out.

We went for a few walks, enjoyed the outdoors, went mini golfing, and played games.

This was our little shadow on our walks :D

                                   Corn...

                                     More Corn...

                                     And...you guessed it...more corn!

Beautiful Sunsets!

Chicago

See yonder fields of tasseled corn, Iowa in Iowa,
Where plenty fills her golden horn, Iowa in Iowa,
See how her wondrous prairies shine.
To yonder sunset’s purpling line,
O! happy land, O! land of mine, Iowa, O! Iowa.
