Our First 4th of July & the Wakarusa Dime Store!

We celebrated our first 4th of July together!  Dave surprised me and took me to see some fireworks at a nearby park.  It was a beautiful night and we had a perfect view of the fireworks!

David also took me to the Wakarusa Dime Store.  They have tons of varieties of candies, sodas, ect.

Loads of Taffy!

He loves PB & J.....cotton candy? I'm not sure...

Um...don't know if I'd try this...

Who's up for some good eatin' ?

Yes, really...

I'm all for bacon, but....

Now you're talkin'!

Any takers?

I'll stick with the real stuff....

Almost added this to my chapstick collection....

I told him he should get one since he loves PB&J!

Sweet corn and Bacon flavored soda?

Ranch dressing or Buffalo Wing soda anyone?

Simple Things

Simple things make me happy.  I'm not a person who needs big and elaborate things to make me content.  Simple, everyday blessings are what make me happy.  Here are a few of those things...

-getting to spend time with my husband

-making meals

-playing with our kitten, Olivia

-baking goodies

-watching our goofy guinea pigs, Gus & Gil

-reading a good book

-playing the piano

-and most recently, experimenting with my waffle iron, because who says you can only make waffles in a waffle iron? :D  I tried some ideas off the internet.

Waffles (of course)

Eggs

Cornbread

Brownies

(they didn't burn, they are darker because of the lighting)

All of the experiments turned out great! Things bake a lot faster and the edges are crispy while the inside is nice and soft.  I love baking with a waffle iron!

What are the simple things of life that make you happy? :)

"Happy Birthday to You!"

Yesterday was my husband's birthday.......since he worked his birthday, we mostly celebrated on Thursday.  We headed out for some mini golf.  We did 3 18-hole courses! It was really fun--although just don't ask Dave who won ;)

     He hates mushrooms :D

He was given a gift card for his birthday, so we enjoyed a little eating out.  I was able to talk to the waitress privately and told her it was his birthday.  They gathered around and sang to him and he ended up with a free sundae! He was quite surprised :D

He loves anything Peanut Butter, so I made him a Reese's Peanut Butter Pie for his birthday...he loved it!

I am so thankful for this man that God has given me.  He is so sweet and caring of me.  He is a hard worker and great provider.  He makes me laugh like no one else.  No one is perfect, but he is perfect for me!

God's Protection and Provision

David and I were involved in a car accident this past
Wednesday night.  We were only 3 minutes away from church.

It all happened so fast, and before you knew it the police and emergency services were there.  Thankfully no one was injured , only a little shook up and sore.

Our car had to be towed and we are waiting to hear the outcome.  Some have said it's fixable, and some have said they will probably total it.  We will wait and see.

Moments after it happened someone we knew spotted us and told our Pastor.  He called a few minutes later to make sure we were fine and to send someone to get us.  This person also allowed us to use his vehicle until we are able to get things straightened out.

So as bad as things seem, and as hard as it is to accept,  I understand that things could have been worse. People could have been seriously injured, or even killed.  We could be totally out a vehicle and have nothing to drive.  Instead, everyone is safe and sound.  We were overwhelmed by the love and care of our church as they offered their help and prayers.  We were given a vehicle to use while we sort this out.  We are so thankful for God's protection and provision in our lives!

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not...for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

Philippians 4:19
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
